Fabric and Supplies
Let´s start this Sew Along with the funniest part: choose the perfect fabric and supplies!
You can read de first post (with the calendar and all the published posts) of the sewalong here, and the previous post about Inspiration, here.
The first thing you should do, of course, is to choose your size. To determine your garment size, measure your bust, waist and hips. Then, refer to de “Body measurements” chart:
SUPPLIES
- Fusible interfacing (medium weight)
- Seven buttons (8-12mm)
- 5m Bias tape (18mm wide)
- Matching thread
- Fabric scissors and unpicker
- Buttonhole presserfoot for your sewing machine
- Water soluble marking tool and pins
- Needels and pins
- Tracing paper
CHOOSE YOUR FABRIC
The Salt and Pepper is a very versatile pattern. You can choose many different types of fabric to sew it, but we recomend you light and medium weight fabrics. Here there are some of our recommendations:
- Cottons, plain or print
- Vichy
- Double gouze
- Flannel
- Viscose
- Linen
- Chambray
To sew this Sew Along version you will need 1.50m of fabric (1.50m wide), or 2.20m of fabric (1.10m wide). You can see the amount of fabric for other versions HERE.
Once you have your fabric, prewash it in the manner you plan on caring for the finished garment. Never skip this step! There is no worst thing than working hard on a project and have your garment shrink the first time you wash it.
And that´s all for todays post. Next day we start Cutting and staystitching some pieces of the pattern, so do not miss it out!
